Picasso is one of the most iconic and universal painters of all times. An artist who needs no introduction. It's no wonder that Picasso Museum Barcelona was the first of its kind when it opened in 1963, and the first museum ever dedicated to the artist while he was still alive.
Brief history

The main reason Barcelona was the chosen city to open the first Picasso museum, was due to the fact that Picasso had a strong connection with the city.
The first collection was assembled by his long-serving secretary, who had gathered over 500 works donated by Picasso himself, in agreement with the Barcelona City Hall.
It's located in Montcada street, in the heart of El Born neighborhood. As a curiosity, five palaces were joined together in order to build the museum. Nowadays, it's a museum of national interest.
Not too far away, you can find other Barcelona monuments such as Palau de la Música, Ciutadella Park and the Barcelona Cathedral.

The museum exhibits a large permanent collection of his artwork. Among the museum's highlights you'll find art pieces such as
